USA PRINTERS ONLY – Where are the acrylic prints produced? Over the past few years, there has been a noticeable increase in companies outsourcing acrylic print production to countries like China, India, and Mexico. At least 3 of the top 10 companies found on Google for “acrylic prints” outsource their production outside the US. Half of these companies don’t even produce gallery-quality acrylic prints. This results in significantly lower prices, but compromises on color accuracy, vibrancy, and durability, such as color fading over time.
Some major photo labs also outsource face-mounted acrylic prints, but this usually occurs within the USA to maintain quality control over the complex process.
We exclusively use USA-based printers, ensuring we can communicate with them directly over the phone whenever necessary. Each file is manually checked for print quality, flaws, and color recommendations before printing. The acrylic print is then manufactured without defects and thoroughly inspected before packaging to guarantee top-notch quality.
BACKING MATERIAL
For prints larger than approximately 40 inches, it’s advisable to use a full-box subframe alongside Dibond to enhance the rigidity of the acrylic print. Some companies might replace a dibond backer with a full subframe, which can be helpful, but for the utmost protection and longevity of your acrylic print, using dibond is the optimal choice.
All ⅛” & ¼” sizes above 40×30” (and all ½” thick sizes) will not have the hanging wire option due to increased weight. For these pieces, we include a full subframe with French cleat by default for more secure hanging.
ACRYLIC PRINT THICKNESS
Our prices listed are for 1/4” Gallery Style.
Many businesses offer acrylic prints in thicknesses of either 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch, or sometimes both. The 1/4” thickness is often used in gallery settings, while the 1/8” acrylic still delivers a vibrant appearance at a lower cost. The thicker 1/4” acrylic gives a more pronounced 3D effect, especially when polished (we offer both diamond-polished and routed edges and recommend polishing for the 1/4” acrylic).
THE TYPE OF ACRYLIC
TruLife acrylic is estimated to reduce glare by about 25% while also offering benefits like enhanced UV protection, improved scratch resistance, and anti-static properties to minimize dust accumulation. All 1/8th inch prints are TruLife Acrylic. This is the option on our online ordering page, and it’s an excellent choice for the highest quality. Other options are available that will decrease the price and are available by custom quote.
NEW WITH A CUSTOM PRICE QUOTE OPTION
We’ve recently introduced a new anti-glare option for our customers. While it doesn’t offer all the advantages of TruLife, it provides approximately 50% better glare reduction and is available at a much lower price than TruLife.
